i’m so excited for my classes next quarter!
I’ll be taking:
- Asian American Studies 30: a multidisciplinary introduction to Asian American literature and culture. Apparently the class is based on novels, short stories, performing arts, films, and the like. I’ll admit I only looked into this class because Clara said it was an easy A … but it does look really interesting.
- Afrikaan 40: Don’t laugh, I’m actually really looking forward to this class! It’s an intro to Afrikaan literature, with special emphasis on authors & poets who protested apratheid - mm yummy firsthand accounts. (examples) Van Heerden, Leroux, Willemse, etc. It’ll be fun to read about this part of history through a different medium than just boring historical facts. These are people’s personal accounts and emotions!
- Political Science 20: got the very LAST spot for this class! :D Hopefully at the rate I’m going, I’ll be able to finish all my pre-reqs for the Poli Sci major by first quarter of next year. Intro to problems of world politics.
- Film TV 19: Fiat Lux, Documentary as Voyage of Discovery. This should be interesting … if/when I study abroad somewhere in Africa, I’ll definitely be wanting to make some kind of documentary. Just gotta think of a topic!
- Sociology 19: Fiat Lux, Sociology of Cinema - Hit Movies, 1920 to 2009. Yaaaaaaaaay! My one easy class! It meets every other week, which means there’s only 5 lectures total this quarter, and all we do is watch and analyze movies. I’m so bummed I didn’t think to take freshman Fiat Lux earlier … there were so many cool ones. Thanks Clara for showing me this class ;)
